Position-time graph and Velocity-time graph

Motion of an object can be identified using graphs:

  • A position vs. time graph is a straight line with a constant slope for an object with constant velocity.
Position-time graph for an object A
  • The velocity is the slope: as the slope increases, the velocity also increases.
    Position-time graph for 2 objects A and B
  • A velocity vs. time graph is also a straight line but the slope is zero for an object with a constant velocity.
