Lab Assignment: Projectile Motion Laboratory: Procedure

1. Set the initial speed to 18 m/s. Move the cannon toward the left side of the screen and raise it vertically to a height of your choice. Measure the height of the cannon with the tape measure. Record the values in the row for Trial 1 in Table 1 as Initial Speed (m/s) and Displacement Δy (m).
2. Click the “Fire” button. You will see the motion of the projectile. At the top of the screen, the lab gives you values for the range, which is Displacement Δx (m), and the time of the motion. Record these values in your data sheet. 
3. Move the cannon in the vertical direction to four different heights of your choice. Repeat step 2 for each height. Record the results in your datasheet under Trials 2–5 of Table 1.
4. Choose a height for the cannon of your choice. You will keep the height constant for the next 5 trials. Repeat step 2 for five different initial velocities of your choice. Record your results in Table 2.
