Lab Assignment: Projectile Motion Laboratory: Conclusions
- Drawing Conclusions: Use the graphs you created to describe the following relationships:
- The vertical and horizontal displacement
- The vertical displacement and the time of motion
- The initial speed and the horizontal displacement
- The initial velocity and the time of motion
- Making Comparisons: How does the initial speed compare to the magnitude of the average horizontal velocity? Do your calculated values differ from what you would expect? Why might you observe differences from expected values even though this laboratory is done in a virtual setting?
- Applying Conclusions: In which of your trials would the total velocity of the projectile be the greatest when it hits the ground? How does this result compare to your hypothesis?
The lab report that you submit to your teacher should include:
- A document file (RTF) containing:
- Your experimental design idea and answers to the initial questions
- Your hypothesis about this experiment supported with physics concepts
- Conclusions from this experiment
- Copy the following spreadsheet and chart information into your document:
- Data Table 1, Data Table 2 from your experiments
- Graphs of your data
- Calculations of average horizontal velocity from your measurements from Table 3
Reminder: Be sure to submit your assignment at this time. Refer to the Guidelines for the Laboratory section for directions on how to submit your assignment to your instructor.
